Day 117: Man (the tenth day)

When negative is positive!

Our malaria tests are negative. We have to take another pill this evening and then with the doctor's blessing we can continue our journey.

We still feel weak, but the boost of motivation helps.

So today we do a few things (reload the SIM again, get money, fill up with water, buy basic food, prepare a few copies for the Congo visas, etc.).

We have pizza for lunch, we need calories – we've both lost weight.

In the afternoon we work on the cooler box and power station and hope that both will run normally again.

A walk through the garden: mango trees (ripe in April), papayas (are almost ripe), bananas (we already had them, delicious), oranges or grapefruit (still need a little). Furthermore, some Central or Northern European swallows overwinter here. No wonder with so many mosquitoes...

The photos show our helpers on site: Pina (with Brigitte) got us through everyday life well with her support.

Dr. Carlo was our treating doctor and was also there for us outside of normal operations. Rosanna helped us with everyday hospital life right from the start and we had good conversations in the evenings, which were a bit distracting.

Missing from the photos is Patrick, who gave us infusions and injections and always greeted us in a good mood. He also took the photos of us :-)

Chance couldn't have taken us to a better place to endure this first (and hopefully only) bout with malaria.
