Day 38: Parking at the beach of Laayoune – Camping Sahara Line in Boujdour

A morning walk on the beach, a late afternoon walk on the beach and in between almost 220 km of landscape in an endless loop.

And otherwise? Last night's Arabic TV show basically sounded like a German TV show and ended exactly at ten.

We slept well protected from the wind. It's amazing that we like to sleep for nine hours.

Looked at Laayoune, drank a coffee, wasted the morning. The city is modern and quite lively. Here would have been an opportunity for a Moroccan breakfast in one of the many busy cafés (usually with omelets, sweet thick pancakes, honey, croissants or other sweets, olives, oil...). Maybe there will be another opportunity in Dakhla.

We had a total of seven check points today, we were stopped twice just for a chat and once seriously checked.

We have lunch at a gas station around 2:30 p.m. – two tajines (with chicken and camel) – mediocre, but still better than some of the food at German rest stops.

We come to Boujdour. There at the campsite we meet Abdul, we already know him from Sous-Massa. And two Germans (Peter and Silvia) and their British companions (Ian and Catherine) who were in Naila last night and met the French and Belgian couples there.

Unfortunately, they haven't made any progress so far because Lionel and Ghislaine's car has a technical problem. We will probably all meet or hear from each other again and again over the next few weeks.

One more funny thing: Ghislaine showed us the great idea of a travel washing machine: laundry, water, washing powder in a bucket with a lid, the rest is done by shaking while you travel. Rinse it out in the evening and you're done :-) We just have no idea where we could put such a bucket.

And unfortunately we heard today that Guinea has closed its borders because the ex-president escaped from prison. We hope this is only temporary.
