Day 159: Banyo – Foumban
We spent yesterday evening with Michael and Julian, two German motorcyclists who had completed a wild route in the previous days and an adventurous recovery of Julian's motorcycle after the clutch gave up and the frame had to be welded.
Today we continue on bad slopes from Banyo to Magba on the way to the coast. Only the last stretch to Fumban is asphalted and like a highway. But at least we were able to refuel in Bankim.
The landscape is wonderful, forests and mountains, birds and smells. Unfortunately, we have to concentrate a lot on the road and can only enjoy it temporarily.
We manage to reach our destination for the day, but the hotel in Fumban is a flop. After more than seven hours of driving, we are too tired to drive any further and the two alternatives in the city don't sound any better.
A creepy, dirty, moldy, mosquito-infested and overly expensive room, a bucket shower in a cell that barely fits anyone. Good thing we wanted to sleep in the car anyway, which is why we actually chose the hotel.
Because we've had really good experiences with it recently, we eat here too. And hope that it goes well and that the olfactory indicator is not a harbinger...
