Day 127: Treehouse B&B – Accra
Accra day 2.
Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We get our passports handed out around 11:00 a.m.
Consulate of the Republic of Congo. We have compiled our documents. However, we point out that it is a bit too expensive for us here with the foreigner surcharge (50 dollars) and that in Benin we can also pay in CFA, so we have no problem with dollar bills. And so we get the visa here for 50 dollars less per person and haveonly a small surcharge because of the poor exchange rate for small/old dollar bills. The consul is sympathetic. We chat for about half an hour and we suspect that he is quite happy with the information he was able to get from us. Somehow he seems quite ambitious to develop the tourism business.
Embassy of Togo. We actually make it around 2:30 p.m. and don't even think we'll be able to pick up the passports today. Shortly after 4:00 p.m. we have the last (!) of the visas in our hands. 650 Cedis for 15 days per person.
Actually done!
All that's missing now is the "sticker" in the passport for Cameroon, but we already have the visa in our pocket.
In between, a pizza (Brigitte has stomach problems) and a short break in a pretty church. Back to the oasis, the tree house.
By the way: There are sandflies here. The ones we know from New Zealand are similar to the black flies in Europe – damn little bastards!
