Day 108: Man
The night was wonderful, quiet and a bit cooler. We have to catch up some sleep.
In the morning we take a taxi into the city and the first thing we do is get SIM cards. Our border crossing between Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire was so small that there were neither the usual money changers nor SIM card sellers.
The whole thing takes time and in the meantime we watch how the square in front of the Orange shop is being prepared for tonight: It is the day of the opening game of the African Nations League and this year Côte d'Ivoire is hosting the championship. It's the day of the vuvuzelas!
We explore the supermarkets (yes, there are 10l containers of drinking water), the gas bottle selection (filling up should probably work), buy a few little things such as a new phase tester (the old one was lost during the compressor repair).
In between, delicious charwama (stuffed dough rolls) for lunch and then back by foot. It's quite warm again, but it's also nice to explore the city and what it has to offer on foot. Every now and then there are nice views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
In the afternoon, images are loaded and the website is filled and put online.
From Man we actually wanted to go on to the Tai National Park. It is quite expensive and we are a bit tired of the strenuous hikes in the rainforest. In order to see chimpanzees, we would have to go to a special camp with overnight luggage (and food and guide and food for the guide and…). We are postponing the decision whether we really want this until tomorrow.
By the way, Côte d’Ivoire won 2-0 against Guinea-Bissau.
