Day 50: Terjid (Camping Auberge Caravan)

The night was simply too warm, only in the morning a bit of wind comes up and it's cooling down slightly.

We stay here today and explore first the place and then the oasis. A nice walk and two wonderful swims first in a cool pool (man-made) and then in a warmer pool (natural, with small fish and dragonflies).

On the way back we buy dates and bread (the latter three times as expensive as in Atar) at the “kiosks” (tiny huts or stalls) and take a break for lunch. We then turn our attention to travel planning.

At the moment our tendency is to drive through until the end of April/beginning of May and make it to Angola or Namibia. That would be faster than initially thought, but would have a few advantages.

At the moment there is good progress and it seems that for the first time you can get a visa for Nigeria on the go.

This would give us more time for a second stage with the southern countries of the African continent. And maybe we're more of a flora and fauna type, even if we think the travel experience in the desert and Mauritania is great.

We could ship our car back to Germany in time so that we wouldn't have any problems with TÜV and registration.

We might do malaria prophylaxis if the time period shortens, because no matter what you do, some of the beasts will find their way. Not so dangerous at the moment, but perhaps difficult in the coming time.

The place fills up over the course of the day and cyclists from Switzerland (Michelle and Lukas) and Sam from Lützerath also arrive. How nice, because our paths have been meeting for a good week now. And tonight we're all cooking for us. Lucas celebrates his 31st birthday.
