Day 107: Kpatawee-Falls (Liberia) – Man (Ivory Coast)
Let’s head towards the Ivory Coast. We felt comfortable in the two English-speaking countries of Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The journey east is fun. First on tar, then over construction sites and finally a slope, we make good progress overall.
The border is the strangest we have had so far: Little border traffic, hardly any trucks, hardly any cars, almost only motorcycles, the street is sometimes so narrowly lined with shops that it is hardly possible to get through and parasols, wheelbarrows, etc. have to be cleared away.
There are great mountain ranges on the horizon. Maybe a trip north into the mountains would be more exciting than another attempt of animal observation in the rainforest?
The Center Focolari, our destination today, is a guesthouse complex and is attached to a Catholic hospital. There is an area where overlanders can park and we learn from Pina, who welcomes us, that they are now considering professionalizing the campsite. First of all, we're in a good place here.
