Day 03: Basel – Weil am Rhein – Osenheim

We decide to drive to France via Germany. Good decision, because on the way to Weil am Rhein the warning message pops up on the display "PCS malfunction, please contact dealer. Check engine, please contact dealer." That doesn't feel good at all.

We use the Vitra Museum to wait for feedback from O-M over a coffee and are extremely frustrated.

A longer story in a nutshell: With the support of O-M's emergency support and with the help of the extremely accommodating Schultheiss Toyota dealership, we manage to reload the original software.
We continue without any further error messages, but with the uneasy feeling that our entire plans may be in doubt. Without the remote travel software working, we won't be able to make our way through Africa in this car.

In Colmar, the campsites are fully booked and every remotely suitable camper van pitch is occupied. As we're already exhausted, we look for something off the main routes. Camping Osenbach is wonderful. Rural location, slightly wooded terrain, quiet, friendly - just right for us.

A reassuring phone call with O-M in the late afternoon. We should receive an update to their software in the next week, which should solve the problem that has arisen.

We end the day with some leftover pumpkin soup, French pâté and Swiss salami, baguette and Alsace Riesling. Wonderful, even if Brigitte's stomach, damaged by weeks of antibiotics, can't really digest it.
