Day 191: Wild camp sout of Bentiaba – Wild camp south of Tombua

A wonderful night, stars without end, peace, coolness...

The coastal road to Namibe remains beautiful – scenic and easy to drive.

Our shopping yesterday was a bit too tight, so we went back to Shoprite for some canned goods and bread. There are also all sorts of other things that end up in the cart, for example chocolate, which becomes attractive again when the temperatures are slightly cooler.

Inset: In Angola, unlike the West African countries so far, there is an off-road scene that reminds us a bit of Namibia and South Africa. Since yesterday was “Peace Day” and therefore a long weekend, many people drove their cars into the dunes south of Namibe. Yesterday we met Enrique while crossing a small river and he told us about it. And today at Shoprite there are some well-equipped Toyotas parking outside. However, we don't know exactly where the weekend's “race” will take place.

One of these spectacular hotspots is “Tiger Bay” – there, if you are not careful or have no in-depth knowledge of the tide, you can quickly sink your car into the sea instead of arriving on the island. We forego this thrill. The photos Luis showed us were spectacular enough.

For us today we only go as far as a shipwreck in the sand south of Tombua. Somehow pretty bizarre.

Another wild camp in the wind. Great stars again. Again lightning flashes on the horizon.

And did we already note that we need a duvet at night?
