Day 32: Camping Soleil Sidi Kaouki – Camping Takat

Refilling the gas bottle is a little adventure. It needs a ladder for the bottle to be filled from and a strap to attach it to the ladder. We also have all sorts of supporting tools. And in the end we don't really know how much ended up in our bottle. Hm.

In the meantime, the laundry, which we only put on the line in the dark, has become almost dry :-)

First of all we always drive south along the coast. Unfortunately it is a bit hazy and even cloudy at higher altitudes. But the surf is impressive. The roar accompanied us the last two nights and sometimes you don't know exactly whether you should always find it beautiful or sometimes a bit threatening.

We change from the expressway to a smaller road that leads even more directly along the coast, winding and with significant elevation gain – simply beautiful. Partly rocky, partly wooded, partly with light dunes, partly with beaches – it's not getting boring.

Imsouane is the next surfing hotspot. Once a simple and picturesque fishing village, there are now surfing schools, board rentals, cafes, restaurants, souvenir shops, mini shops and smoke from grilled fish – and lots of cool or pseudo-cool people.

Crepes and coffee and a smoothie are our choice for lunch in a shop where hardly anyone works, everyone just plays on their cell phones and wants to be cool. It takes a correspondingly long time and the quality is correspondingly mediocre.

We continue to Agadir. Sounds good: we are in Agadir. On the way there are many great coastal sections and lively Sunday excursions. The city has the touch of the slightly sophisticated and the atmospheric change towards our destination today – a campsite at the Souss Massa nature reserve – in the rural area is all the more striking. Hardly any eye contact or greetings when driving through the streets, significantly more (even completely) veiled women.

Btw: When filling up at a Shell station (yes, we could actually pay with a credit card, which was helpful) we had such a lousy toilet that there had to be a photo to prove it!

Now we are at a really comfortable campsite and get some dinner cooked for us (tajine with vegetables and chicken, that always works). We have booked a trip to the nature reserve for tomorrow and we also booked for breakfast beforehand – then it will be easier for us to get up early. Tres bien!
