Day 30: Camping Laguna – Camping Soleil Sidi Kaouki
The landscape is changing, becoming more barren and rocky. The construction method is also changing; we have arrived in the world of cube houses. The appearance of people is also changing; there are more men with cowls and hoods and more women with long robes and headscarves. People seem a little more reserved. The western touch of the coastal towns is wearing off, we are more reminded of the inland Morocco of eight years ago.
Something is changing for us too. It seems almost unreal that we are here and we will have to focus more intensively on daily and long-term planning over the next few days. We will leave Morocco, which is already know, and new terrain awaits us.
In Safi we take a walk through the medina, everything is very narrow, very dark, partly painted blue like in Chefchaoun. South of Safi a nasty industrial area and an even nastier smell of whatever awaits us. We quickly drive through.
However, the coast is wonderful and since we drive for a long time on a ridge, we always have great views.
Our location today is south of Essaouira, Camping Soleil Sidi Kaouki was recommended by the two Brits we met in Dar Bouazza. A large place, nicely located, quite windy, not far from the beach. We'll postpone the decision on how long we'll stay until tomorrow.
