Day 81: Milly Mamadou – Conakry

3rd Advent in Europe. We are very far away, even if there are one or two decorated Christmas trees in the area.

This morning there was a discussion about payment, we should now pay twice as much and therefore significantly more than we paid anywhere else. Ultimately it remains the price we agreed on yesterday, but it just remains an annoying feeling.

The advantage for the trip to Conakry is that it is Sunday, as we had already discovered in Dakar and also at one or two borders. Still, you don't actually want to be here. A stinking juggernaut in the smog.

At the airport we get the “real” visa in our passport from immigration, luckily there isn’t much going on.

We get money from an ATM again and now have our 4 million together for the visas...

Our hotel, the Riviera Taouyah, is ok, although with European prices too expensive for what it offers. But we had already suspected that beforehand. Unfortunately, we missed the right moment for the pool today; from 4 p.m. onwards, guests are flocking to a wedding. Mega. Loud. Colorful. Masses.

We escape with Lio and Domi and eat outside the hotel at “Netty” – an excellent choice. Small, nice, excellent slightly spicy food (fish skewers, sea bream, calamari, fries), good music, pleasant interior. And in the end we only pay 40 euros. There's another beer at the hotel bar and we all feel like we've spent a real day on holiday. Since the wedding has vanished into thin air, it is totally tranquil and peaceful.

A good start for Conakry.
