Day 16: Camping Fuente de La Pascuala – Camping Los Villares Sierra de Córdoba

It's cold this morning. We're in the mountains. The day brings a total temperature difference of probably more than 20 degrees.

Shower, have breakfast and at the finish the sun comes over the hill and we thaw out.

Today the pass road winds up the west side of the Guadalquivir. There aren't many people heading in our direction, but there are countless Spaniards heading in the opposite direction – the most beautiful picnic spots are probably completely full by eleven o'clock.

After around two hours of spectacular driving, we leave the mountains and drive through gently rolling plains with nothing but olive trees. As far as the eye can see. Is this form of monoculture good? At least the trees provide us with shade while we have a small lunch.

Last night we had already decided to go to Cordoba today and try our luck with a day ticket for the Alhambra in Granada on the Monday after the long weekend.

The further planning is based on this, because after Granada we head south towards Algeciras, where we have to do a car service somewhere along the way.

There is a nice campsite in a nature park near Cordoba and we get the last available spot – which then turns out to be occupied. Very pragmatically, we can stand a little higher on the terraced area – no problem thanks to the off-road capable Becky. Without all-wheel drive and especially ground clearance, the space would not have been possible. Fortunately, we found a solution that both we and the receptionist are happy with.
