Day 90: Nova Africa south of Freetown – Freetown; shit happens

Today we're going to Freetown to test the money transfer with Western Union, visit a few supermarkets and top up our SIM cards. Everything works and the oil change won't happen until tomorrow, if at all, because today is still the British "Boxing Day" for the gifts and a lot of things.

We briefly pursue the idea of spontaneously taking a tour of the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary and asking if we can spend the night there.

We then notice that our battery is significantly weak and is not charged even after driving around 40 km.

It's almost scary. Whenever we think we have recovered, some problem brings us back to the everyday reality of such a journey. We are frustrated. This stuff takes too much energy.

So we look for a hotel room – scruffy and too expensive, but in the city and with secure parking.

Now it's time to keep fingers crossed and not to worry too much tonight.
