Day 06: Baume-les-Messieurs – Salavas

“Im Frühtau zu Berge …” [old German song meaning “To the mountains in the early dew…”] – haha. We set off for a walk at half past seven to look at the cascades at the end of the valley. The journey is the destination, we need exercise and so it's no big deal that the Cascades are dry.

Then breakfast, shower, fill up the water tank. By the time we get going it's just after eleven.

Our destination is the Ardeche. A wonderful trip, but unfortunately “tout fermé”. Strange – it’s perfect travel weather. But there, the rescue, out of the corner of my eye a sign “Camping ouvert”. Emergency braking, reverse gear and got a parking space in the parking lot for 10 euros!

There's a quick dinner (our so-called emergency food lives up to its name – there's pasta with a can of deer ragout from our trip to the Harz) and off we go to bed.
