Day 195: Wild camp north of Cahama – Ruacana Lake

We try a slope that leads east to Ruacana. It's easier to drive than expected and therefore faster, not special, but not bad either. Just another tour across the country. However, you don't want to drive here when it's raining.

The villages are very simple, what we see is livestock farming and corn cultivation, straw huts, wooden huts, corrugated iron huts. Maybe actually nomads who are gradually settling down. Maybe the social integration program that is being advertised everywhere has something to do with it.

And then suddenly we are almost at the Cunene border river in southern Angola. Less than 10 kilometers away, we traveled in Namibia 16 months ago and decided to embark on this adventure. In the winter of 2019/2020 we stood at Epupa Falls and looked across the Cunene to Angola and wondered what it would be like to travel there. Tomorrow our way points meet in Ruacana. We really did this, we really did it. Big emotions.

So much energy. So many experiences. So many great people. So many wonderful encounters. So often cursed and doubted.

For our last night in Angola, we just brazenly stand right next to the lake/reservoir, enjoy the sunset and have a really nice place to spend the night.
