Day 19: Granada – Alhambra: Luck is with the stubborn

At midnight we try again to get a ticket for the Alhambra online. A good 20 tickets are unlocked, which will of course be gone in no time – we don't get through “2. Add person” at all. A pity. At some point in the night, Wolle wakes up to the sound of a horn honking. A quick check of the ticket page can't be a waste. And actually: There are two (!!!) tickets. At 03:49:37 CEST booking and payment are confirmed. What a crazy luch we have. The real challenge was filling out the many small fields, including the ID card number, with sleepy eyes. And it absolutely has to be correct, because you only have access with the document number. When entering the separate areas, you have to show your passport, which will be scanned and compared with the database.

Of course it takes time for us to fall asleep again and just as naturally we are tired in the morning. But we are also happy, like children, about our good fortune.

And it will be a fantastic day.

Jardines Bajos del Generalife, the palace itself, the old Alcazaba fortress and the jewel, the Palacios Nazaríes – we have time and desire for the full program. So great and so impressive!

The funny thing is that we were both here with our families in 1975. Memories come back and from old pictures we realize that the Alhambra was already well attended back then and that you always capture the same views :-)

At the end we stroll around the city a bit and hungrily tuck into a plate of very tasty appetizers. Tired and satisfied, we arrive back at the campsite – maybe we'll still find the energy to think about what we're going to do from tomorrow.
