Day 120: Bouake – Bondoukou

Morocco scored the only goal in the last four preliminary round games yesterday, helping Côte d'Ivoire advance to the round of 16. Disco all night long. We still sleep.

At 8 we are already on the street. Shortly after Bouake it becomes quite lonely, the road is first developed (tar), then becomes a construction site (smooth gravel) and after about 60 km there is only a track.

Wolle at the beginning: “It’s almost scary that no one is around here.” After two hours, four oncoming cars and a few mopeds, “There’s a lot of traffic here.” :-)

We drive around 260 km, around 200 of which are dusty, partly bumpy tracks and it takes almost eight hours. The car is messed up inside and out. But we are happy – it went well.

There's no camping in Bondoukou again (we'll only do it again in the Mole Park and on the coast, we suspect), but we find a small hotel and pay 23 euros – that's ok. There is a hot shower on the second day!!! The last ones we had were in Freetown and before that in Conakry…

One more thing: Today we drive through a whole series of small villages. At first glance, Ivorians often look stern, sometimes even dark. When we say hello and greet them back, it's almost as if a light goes on – smiles and laughter are friendly and radiant.
