Day 126: Day trip to Accra
Accra.
Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We bring our visa documents on the way, pay 500 US dollars (only large and new bills are accepted). No receipt for the money, nothing official that we left the passports there. Pfff…
Consulate of the Republic of Congo. Vivienne and Bethanie tell us what we need to prepare $195 times two. Here too, preferably in large, new bills. Old and small notes have a worse exchange rate. Let's see how we solve this. Western Union in Liberia gave us small, old bills, the standard in Liberia.
Embassy of Togo. We only can get a visa on arrival at one border. If we want to keep the option of another route and possibly stay longer than 5 days (transit), we need a visa. But it seems simple. 1,050 Cedis (times 2 / just under 160 euros), that's all. Let's see if it's true.
Looking for a bookstore to possibly buy an Angola travel guide – hopeless.
Marina Mall. Delicious dim sum and a well-stocked supermarket!
Accra Mall. We buy new sneakers for Wolle, a new (white!) T-shirt for Brigitte.
And we drive back to the Treehouse, the evening oasis. Better air, but just as high humidity at almost 30 degrees.
