Day 13: Didota Eco Resort – Camping Finca Familia (nearby Elche)
Woke up again and again throughout the night, heard the surf and happily fell asleep again.
We want to spend a second day in the back country and, after visiting the supermarket, we head to Alcoi first. The city isn't accessible to us – we drive around the area a bit chaotically because of the many one-way streets, can't find a city center, no signs of any kind, let alone an option to park. And so we end up driving towards Elche without stopping. On the way a stop at our campsite for the next two nights, wonderfully located with a wide view towards Alicante and Elche. The place can only be found using the coordinates – if three devices give different routes due to different presets, that's a bit stupid. And so we leave Toyota sat nav and Google Maps aside and follow the good old Garmin.
Elche has the largest palm plantation in Europe. Here too: Parking is difficult, especially since school is out and all the parent taxis have to park on the streets. But this way we get to know the place a little before we continue on by foot. The number of palm trees is enormous, the place itself is nice – but after an hour and a half we decide not to wait until the restaurants open, but to go back and cook ourselves. Nice atmosphere up here.
