Day 14: Camping Finca Familia (nearby Elche)

Last night the lever on the rear tailgate that you need to open or lock from the inside broke off. Since there are still a few improvements to be made and it's annoying to open the door from the inside with a screwdriver, we're going to visit the hardware store today.

We actually wanted to lounge around, plan the next few days, use the pool, do a little communication, but what the heck – especially since tomorrow is a national holiday in Spain and everything will be closed.

At the first hardware store we get everything except the screw for the lever, which apparently doesn't have a standard thread. So off to the second hardware store at the other end of town. Identical offers.

What would we do without the Internet: At 3:30 p.m. a Ferreteria Industrial opens, which is roughly where the first hardware store is. Our stomachs are sagging and our mood is a bit too, so at Chocolateria Valor we have delicious cake and cappucchino and a cheerful waitress also improves our mood, especially since he gives us two sweets to welcome us.

The Ferreteria is a goldmine, the phrase “Buscamos un tornillo especial” helps and it can be found in the box for old screws that our interlocutor bought at auction somewhere, exactly the one we need. Plus a second one just in case. Perfect.

Back at the campsite, it's time to do some manual work and soon it'll be time for a quick shower and cooking. Another fulfilling day is over and it's time to go to bed.
