Day 31: Camping Soleil Sidi Kaouki

We spend the morning chatting with Hannah and Matt after sitting and eating together for a long time last night. A wonderful exchange. The two of them will continue today in search of the perfect wave, like so many surfers here.

We want to stay and wash, which unfortunately doesn't quite work out in time with Ali, who is actually perfectly organized and who runs this campsite with great commitment, because we waste time with a spontaneous lunch after a walk on the beach.

So we have to wait until the washing machine is accessible again – understandably only one person has the key to the room in which all the valuable appliances are stored. But maybe the stuff will dry out tonight. Ali is great, the world needs more of people like him. Acting responsibly for his place, he has planted trees, keeps the place clean, the garbage protected from wind and animals, and organizes fresh bread for you in the morning without asking.

The mini-town here is a surfer's hangout and you can ride horses, camels, quad bikes and eat in one of the many small stalls. Grilled fish is primarily on offer, but since we had already bought fish for the evening from a traveling salesman who stopped by the campsite this morning, we are decide for a so-called Berber omelette and couscous with vegetables for lunch. Delicious.

There are a lot of French people here, some Spaniards, Moroccans or Moroccan rental cars, some Germans, all of very different ages. We suspect that we will see this type of “hotspot” on the coast a few more times.
