Day 198: Namutomi – Okaukuejo
Last night we prepared coffee, bread and muesli and off we went when the gate opened shortly after 7 a.m. The light is great in the morning and it's nice to have the whole day ahead of you. A detour here, a waterhole there, a stop here and there on the road to observe animals – it's just fun. Safari!
Today we were lucky enough to see five resting lions and another lioness on the prowl. Whether she got the little zebra or not – we don't know. The stalk ended in a sprint, a cloud of dust, zebras running away. We didn't see any more of the lioness.
At a rest place we were able to watch a rhino from the roof of the car.
Besides: Large herds of gazelles, hartshorn, wildebeest, zebras, ostriches. Few birds. And sometimes nothing at all for long stretches. Basically, what you see is always a coincidence.
We drive through to Okaukuejo. Cook food, light a fire, write diary.
