Day 03: Windhoek
Where is the battery charger? And where is the slip for the road tax that Hilde billed us? How do we pay the garage? Where do we exchange Euros and Dollars? Is our decision regarding the windshield the right one? Is it worth considering shipping options now in case it doesn't work out? Can we extend our stay at the Urban Camp? Questions upon questions.
- The charger is probably at the Trans Kalahari Inn, because the car was supposed to be returned.
- We paid the road tax by mistake, it's being refunded, and the first thing we have to do today is go to the office and pay the tax.
- The bank, curiously enough, refers us to a currency exchange office, saying the rate would be better there.
- At CarTech, we not only pay, but also need a letter for the insurance because our MOT is expiring.
- At the Arts and Crafts Center, we have delicious coffee and cake.
On the way back, our dashboard reports an engine failure and advises us to visit a dealer. So, back to CarTech. They can reset the error, but they can't really tell what it is. It's no use anyway; the error quickly reappears.
So, off to Toyota. Just before the deadline we can arrange an appointment for 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning and they'll squeeze us in somehow.
Off Road Motorhomes in Germany, whose software we use in the car, can't provide a remote diagnosis due to server problems.
We're not in the best mood.
