Day 41: Riverdance Lodge (nearby Divundu) – Rupara Restcamp (nearby Sangwali)
We chat a bit with the lodge owners, Pascale and Chris, buy some delicious bread, and set off to explore the Buffalo Core Area.
Now part of Bwabwata National Park, part of the area was formerly a military zone – the ruins look a bit strange.
Scenically beautiful, but the trails are a bit rough, and the park currently offers little else. We see many antelopes, including an enchanting number of kudus, some of the funny warthogs, and a few friendly birds. Once, we spot an elephant in the bush. That's it. Overall, though, we waste quite a bit of time and then have to hurry a bit to get to Rupara Camp (well south of Kongola).
The access road isn't particularly well signposted, and the dirt track offers numerous options, but we ultimately arrive just in time for daylight.
Unfortunately, there's already a trailer from South Africa parked at Camp #2, which was offered to us yesterday. It later turns out that our request/booking went to someone other than the person who's in charge of the site today.
Well, then. Since the site is big enough, no one has any other options in the dark, and Theresa and David weren't having the best day of driving today, we decide to share the site. We find a leveled spot and even have a better view, so we let them use the electrical hookup. We share the shower and toilet on request. It works perfectly!
We're in bed pretty early anyway.
