Day 96: Lake Mburo NP
So this morning, the three of us head to Lake Mburo National Park for a game drive. Clearing the back seat has been routine since last year :-)
We see wonderful Rothschild giraffes, which have arguably the prettiest coat markings of all giraffes. Zebras with a high proportion of black in their fur. Waterbucks, whose flanks are whiter and whose fur is browner than we've seen before. Buffalo, warthogs, impalas, and bushbucks. We spot hippos in the lake in the distance. We hardly see any birds.
The park is small, the paths are good, and the animals aren't shy – a very relaxed tour. And after a few locals simply get out of the car for a selfie with a giraffe, we do the same :-)
Located within a reasonable distance of Entebbe and Kampala, and on the route to Bwindi, which most tourists take, the park is filling up today. We meet school groups and, for the first time in a while, one of those hop-on hop-off buses, which quickly pop up twenty tents upon arrival at a campsite.
Wolle is feeling not very well, Brigitte is constantly tired, and Lorenz wants to cycle a bit further east today – so we return to camp for lunch late in the afternoon.
