Day 95: Villa Katwe (Masaka) – Leopard Rest Camp (near Mburo National Park)

The medication is working, Wolle is feeling better. So we decide to drive a little further today. The risk seems low. By the way, there's a list of hospitals in Uganda on Wikipedia – so we might be able to find help there.

We have a leisurely breakfast – besides the volunteers, a couple living in Uganda and a tour guide have also stayed here overnight. And we watch as the water tanks are refilled. It's a laborious task, lugging the obligatory canisters that were brought in from the village.

About 100 km west lies the small Lake Mburo National Park. It's said to be scenically beautiful and offer some wildlife. The bush camp is okay, and they even offer dinner.

Nature is good for us after the noise of the city. We simply can't fathom how people can live, let alone sleep, with the constant noise. And it reminds us of some countries in West Africa. One could almost think that the closer one gets to the equator, the less people find peace and quiet.

In the evening, Lorenz (a cyclist!) suddenly appears at our table. We spent Christmas Eve 2023 with him in Sierra Leone (along with Almut and Simon, as well as Ira and Patrick). What a coincidence! We're here a day later than expected; Lorenz, on a three-week cycling trip, is making an unexpected stop here. How crazy is that?
