Day 172: Nyalazi Campground – Dolphin Holiday Resort
As a "bonus," we drive through the park once more, exiting through the Cengeni Gate in the southwest. And as we bid farewell, two magnificent rhinos make their appearance.
The contrast for the onward journey could hardly be greater: densely populated areas, heavy traffic, highways with speeds of up to 120 km/h.
Only KwaZulu-Natal itself, with its wonderful mountains and hills, is similar.
We skirt the so-called Battlefield, the region of the great battles between the British and the Zulu, but we have little desire for museums and war memorials.
We drive toward Durban and get within 70 km of Becky's production facility.
Our destination is the Dolphin Holiday Resort in Ballito; we need a bit of (urban) infrastructure again. The whole thing could easily be in Spain or Italy. Ugly new buildings, loud-sounding motorcycles and cars, a good, practical caravan park, supermarkets and restaurants, and the beach with great surf.
Perks of civilization: We can buy vouchers for SIM data uploads and have three bars of LTE! We haven't had that since Mozambique! And there's decent bread, sushi, and wine for dinner.
