Day 08: Windhoek

We've been here for a week now and have barely made any progress. We set out with the idea of planning less and taking things as they come. And it feels a bit like the universe is telling us, "Now learn how to do this!"

The first thing we did this morning: Contact to Sidonio from PG Glass to see if he had an order confirmation or even a delivery date. The answer was: "These suppliers give me grey hair, let me find out again" – that's not very encouraging...

So we checked our contacts in Angola for a windshield replacement who we received from Luis (Kokuakos Lodge Luanda). One in Lubango – not in a bad location in principle – responded promptly, and the information we exchanged via WhatsApp initially sounded promising. But first, we have to have the sensor replaced at Toyota, which will hopefully arrive by Wednesday at the latest.

We also contacted Namship for a quote. The shipping in a standard container would cost us around 5,000€ including all fees. It probably wouldn't be possible to find a partner to share on such short notice. Shipping would be straight to Hamburg.

After installing what seems to be the final locking mechanism for the kitchen drawers the day before yesterday, we're tweaking a few things today.

And since we discovered a moisture bridge to the mattress during the heavy rains here, we're working on a solution for that, too.

Afterwards, a walk to the nearest gas station with a supermarket and cafe. That's a great way to while away a day.
