Day 127: The Old Kisolanza Farmhouse – Mbeya
We decide to keep going. It's very nice at the Old Farmhouse, but we still have a few things to do before we get to Malawi (CdP extension, Mozambique visa, etc.) and we want to stock up on some groceries. So we drive to Mbeya.
First, through the villages: Following the tip of an English-Tanzanian family, we take the R595 from Mafinga to Rujewa instead of the T1. We're a bit tired of trucks and police checkpoints. It takes time (and we don't have any of that in the evening), but it's a nice change.
The last 100 km or so on the T1 to Mbeya are totally annoying. Incidentally, we haven't seen so many broken-down or crashed trucks in Tanzania in a long time. We're plodding along, and a construction site in Mbeya doesn't make things any better...
Just before dark, we arrive at Paul's Hidden Hillside Campsite. Not as charming as hoped, but okay. A grassy pitch, a somewhat shabby bathroom, a shared kitchen...
After the delicious meals of the last few days, today's meal is just a quick one. And we quickly realize: It's getting cold again. We're at 1,734 m, after all.
