Day 59: Mvuu Lodge Campsite – Breeze River Lodge Campsite

We decide to drive a bit of the route towards Lusaka today and not extend our stay at Mvuu Lodge.

So we sleep in (until 7:00), have a leisurely breakfast (until 8:00), and pack up. While checking the stove, an amphibian takes flight – it's been comfortably warm both mornings and evenings for the past few days. If it weren't for an elephant feeding on the driveway to the lodge, we would have left at 9:00. So it's a bit of a wait...

We drive around the game reserve, roughly in the same area we were yesterday. But: We don't see the wild dogs from yesterday again, nor the leopard that's supposed to be somewhere, nor the bush pigs. We do smell them, though. Phew.

The scenery is great! And so the trip is fun, even if we don't see any "game" other than antelopes.

At midday, we have to head west because the track is time-consuming. It's a bumpy and shaky ride to the Breeze Lodge and campsite just outside Chirundu. Once again, we find a spot on the Zambezi River. And once again, we enjoy the sound of hippos.

Even though we still have leftovers to eat, we opt for fish and chips – we don't get fresh fish very often.
