Day 09: Windhoek

Nothing new...

We walk into the city, stroll through Wernhil Mall, have lunch at the Arts and Crafts Center, briefly cross Cymot (but we really don't need anything else!), walk back, and are back at the campsite for coffee. Lazy day.

On the way, we stop by PG Glas, and Sidonio still can't give us a delivery date. Tomorrow he wants to find out where in South Africa the windshield is coming from – maybe driving to meet it is an option? Easter is coming up, and that's the school holidays.

And Bricato from Toyota can't tell us anything about the sensor delivery either.

Wolle goes for a run, Brigitte does yoga, and yesterday we used the jump ropes. The New Year's resolutions :-)

Because we already had some tasty snacks for lunch, we're not going to a restaurant this evening. We're having cheese sandwiches with fried eggs. That's good, too.

And we're glad we brought something to read.

We've both finished the book about African Parks' questionable business models ("In the Name of Animals" by Olivier van Beemen), and it has found its new home in the Urban Camp library. It was definitely worth reading. African Parks is very much steeped in the tradition of colonial hunting tourism. Locals who have lived and hunted in the regions for centuries are sometimes kept away using brutal means or relocated with promises that are never fulfilled. In some countries, African Parks seems to perform almost paramilitary duties in border security.
