Day 55: Lusaka

No, it's not always warm in Africa! Like yesterday, it's cloudy, windy, and cool. Last night, we wore our ski underwear.

The morning is spent tinkering. Tightening the screws on the underbody protection; they're never really tight after oil changes! Filling up drinking water with the small pump and cordless screwdriver because the pressure isn't enough. Wolle's hair is cut. Fixing little things.

After meeting the owner of Everwild yesterday (Pioneer Camp has been part of this group since the beginning of the year), we do a little research into what else they offer. Luamba Camp near Luangwa National Park is also part of the group; they're currently working on the road after the rainy season. But at the moment, it's still unclear whether we can drive there yet or not. The manager's information remains somewhat vague, as it rained again last week, which is unusual. David, a South African we met a few days ago at the Musungwa Lodge near Itezhi-Tezhi, sends us a message saying they're turning back.

So, are we heading north via Malawi after all? We'll plan an alternative route...
