Day 33: River Dance Lodge (nearby Divundu) – Katima Mulilo – Muchenje River Lodge
Off we go to Katima Molilo. About 350 kilometers for a visit to the workshop.
Our one problem is quickly resolved – the plug connection to the actuator for 4x4 operation was loose and now engages smoothly again.
But the car still pulls strongly to the right in 4x4 mode. So we get back on the lift and, lo and behold, the right front tire has play. We're getting new inner tie rods. After that, Becky has knock knees and needs to have her wheel alignment done tomorrow. It's too late for that today.
Since we have to get some cash and grab a bite to eat in between, we don't get to see the entire repair. Trust is always a question. The workshop has good reviews on iOverlander and was even personally recommended to us. On the other hand, our experience is that no workshop here works well. And no one says if they don't know or can't do something. Since the problem isn't resolved even after the alignment, it's possible that something was installed just to fix it. But it's also possible that the problem lies in something else. We'll have to keep an eye on whether the right tire will have play again. We're muddled through...
We find a place to stay nearby and spend a pleasant evening at the Muchenje River Camp.
