Day 52: Kaingu Lodge

What's going on here!

Yesterday early evening, there was no water. Presumably, while we were sitting in the lounge, a hippo walked over the water pipe and destroyed it. So, we went to one of the chalets for a shower, which was absolutely fine for us. Shortly before seven in the morning, the "plumber" arrived.

Yesterday, too, we heard lions roaring. This accompanied us from the moment we cooked until we fell asleep – a lion quite close on our side of the river, a lion further away on the other. The locals' estimates of the distance ranged from 500 meters to 2 kilometers.

Otherwise, we laze away the day, meet Kaori, who has lived in Lusaka for 17 years, and use the WiFi to upload pictures. It's good to unwind a bit after all the impressions of the last few days.

In the afternoon, we scrambled to the rocks and power points. No elephants by the water, but at least we got a little exercise.

Today, in the darkness, an elephant is grazing its way across the property. We don't see it because we're already in bed, but we hear the cracking branches.
