Day 147: Kukutana Campsite / Tete
We're tired from yesterday's journey and don't feel like crossing another border today. Besides, the place is nice. Even if the smell of coal mining that sometimes wafts over isn't so pleasant. So we stay for another day.
A trip into town to Spar, Shoprite, a great bakery (Nata!), and Total Energy. You can pay with credit cards everywhere. So easy. Still, we need a little change for the campsite, and maybe tomorrow at the border as well. So we queue at the ATM, the only one that seems to be working. A good half hour in the blazing sun. We'll have to get used to the sudden heat of (yesterday) up to 36 degrees Celsius again.
And then we have a truly cozy, relaxed, free afternoon! Hooray!
In the evening, the place gets busier. A Dutch family with small children and three Brits. James also drove down the western route with his partner; now he's traveling with his sister Abbey and her mother. Exciting: All travelers are really impressed by Malawi.
