Day 141: Liwonde NP (Chinguni Campsite)

We wake up early and hit the road by 7:20 a.m. Liwonde National Park isn't a park with dense animal populations, but the scenery is truly beautiful. The dammed river to the west, floodplains and grasslands, bush and forest with diverse vegetation.

We see three magnificent sable antelopes, waterbuck, kudu, and impala. Large herds of buffalo. Hippos in the distance and a fat, giant crocodile. A large family of elephants. Hoopoes and other charming birds. Rangers armed to the teeth on poacher patrol. A northern entrance gate at the so-called Livingston Baobab, which is not secured in any way...

After 130 km and nine hours of driving, we arrive back at camp.

Alas, surprise, all the tents are gone. Oh no, one is still there. Of course the one where we want to park again. Apparently, no one here has an overview of the bookings. Let alone that the trash was cleared away or the fire pits cleaned. The tent was quickly moved to another spot, and at least we'd be standing upright tonight :-)

All in all, a beautiful day. To round things off, we finished with leftovers, a campfire, beer, and the lion's roar...
