Day 159: Moreson Camp and RV – Phalaborwa Safari Park
We're making our way from Moreson via Louis Trichard, passing Polokwane, to Tanzeen.
We see extensive orange plantations, mango trees, and nut trees (Macademia). Pine forests and poplars mingle amusingly with bananas and palm trees. Oranges and avocados are sold in bags by the roadside – once again, not in our consumption size :-)
In Tanzeen, we visit a panel beater and paint shop recommended to us for a quote to repair some damages – Becky has suffered a bit. However, the place isn't really good to a stay for 2-3 days as long as the works would take, so maybe we'll look elsewhere.
Lunch break at the "Junction Restaurant" with a view of the Letaba River, which also flows through Kruger National Park. Pizza with bacon, fresh pineapple, and avocado as decoration. A curious creation, but very tasty.
On the way to Phalaborwa, we see the remains of a very serious accident. A burned-out truck with a trailer, and in between a car that looked like it'd just come out of a scrapyard. Phew. And once again the thought "It can happen so quickly"...
Phalaborwa is one of the gateways to the Kruger, and the safari park is well booked. Of the 49 sites, half are probably occupied, and for the first time in a long time, we have so many campers crammed around us. And South Africans really do always set up a lot of stuff!
We'll be staying for two nights and have "snagged" five campsites in the almost fully booked Kruger.
