Day 164: Satara Main Camp – Pretoriuskop Main Camp

At 6:20, the first ones start for pole position at the gate. So, instead of driving to yesterday's "leopard hotspot," we head straight for Skukuza.

The highlight of the day: A cheetah runs "in front of our car."

First on the road, then in the grass, back on the road, and back into the grass – we follow it for over 20 minutes. And it's obviously looking for possible prey. So amazing to watch! And what a luck.

And what else?

We often stop for elephants and watch them tear branches into chewy bushes.

We watch giraffes stride majestically through the savannah.

Zebras like to stand in groups – we've heard it's supposed to confuse predators.

The dainty impalas, tiny steenboks and duikers, comparatively "colorful" nyala bucks, archaic wildebeest – it's all there.

After a good four hours, we reach Tshokwane and get a snack. It already feels like lunchtime...

The next break is in Skukuza, a huge camp. Somehow, we feel quite overwhelmed by so many people. We'll be here tomorrow; there's no campsite available today.

So we continue on to Pretoriuskop. The scenery is beautiful, but nothing is happening. Either there's little wildlife around, or everything is lying languidly in the shade and we can't see it.

The end of the day puts us in a slightly bad mood. We have to book a return flight soon and also plan for the next few weeks. And it all boils down to leaving out a lot. So how and where do we set our priorities?
