Day 21: Farm Namuskluft (Rosh Pinah) – Alte Kalköfen (Simplon)
Easter Sunday!
So we head north again. We choose a route through the mountains that we've heard is slow due to the many small washouts caused by the rain, but doable and beautiful. And so it is. Magical.
Actually, there are "only" mountains and plateaus to admire, but the scenery is wonderful and the drive is fun.
We hesitate for a moment about whether to make a detour to the Fish River Canyon (which has water), but the lodge on that side is expensive and doesn't have camping, which would be too much of a detour.
Instead, we continue on to "Old Lime Kilns" near Simplon, just under 100 km west of Keetmanshoop.
Good choice. A lodge furnished with love and a great passion for decorating and preserving old things, which also has three campsites.
We cool our feet in the pool, drink a Rock Shandy, chat with Eileen and Terry from Australia, and marvel at the large collection of “Lithops” (living stones), which are worth a visit to this place.
