Day 133: Chelinda Campsite
The campfire is lit again for breakfast, which is pleasant. Later, the sun warms the air.
We tinker a bit and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet.
We've arranged a walk with a guide for 3:00 PM (USD 20 pp). We're not allowed to go out alone, except on the road between the lodge (reception) and the campsite. And we're generally reminded that we're in an area with wild animals and that we must stay on the few official roads, even when driving. Many years ago, a South African apparently got lost here and was never found...
The two-hour hike with Watson is fun. We see zebras, bushbuck, reedback, roan antelope with their white faces, a striped jackal, and many small birds. And last but not least, a family of hyenas, the smallest of which is probably only two weeks old. It's very fascinating to see how different the animals look compared to the spotted hyena.
By the way, it must also be wonderful to visit the plateau at the beginning of the rainy season in October, when orchids bloom here in all colors.
In the evening, Stefan reaches the campsite after two days of walking accompanied by an (armed) guide. We met Stefan two days ago at the mushroom farm.
