Day 124: Emayani Beach Lodge/Kasa Diving Campsite – Barry's Beach Lodge and Campsite
We change beaches and drive about 40 km south to Barry's Beach Lodge and Campsite.
The road parallel to the coast is currently being improved and therefore is a construction site. So it's nice to do it in stages.
By the way: We heard last night from a German-Tanzanian couple that the ferry at Pangani is having problems again. We were really lucky the day before yesterday.
And maybe we'll be able to find out here today whether the crossing of Saadani National Park from Mkwaja to Mkalamo is free. Otherwise, we'll have to turn back. Because we now know that they actually check car documents in Saadani National Park. So it would cost us two parking fees of 30 USD plus 150 USD for Becky (over 2,000 kg unladen weight). That's too much for us. And, by the way, it's many times more than what the locals pay (parking fee 5.00 TSH/2 USD, plus a car over 2,000 kilos, 35,000 TSH/just under 14 USD).
Barry's Beach Lodge and Campsite is also nice, the beach even better, but since it's low tide, we jump into the pool and actually do a few laps. After our 12 km beach walk yesterday, we're feeling pretty fit :-)
We've ordered fish for dinner today as well – we want to take advantage of the offer during our few days by the sea. Instead of salad, we're having vegetables today – perhaps we've been too careless with the salads again the last few days...
