Day 70: Kapishya Hot Springs

We're having a slump.

Brigitte is literally feeling under the weather after hitting her head on a branch in the dark yesterday. Wolle is overwhelmed by the technical and mechanical problems.

An interesting observation is that all the things we've already overcome don't lead to greater composure, but rather to "oh no, not again..."

Unlike other overlanders, we don't enjoy tinkering with the car; it's more of a necessary evil. And because we didn't start tinkering with mopeds at 14, let alone cars later on, and Wolle has only limited experience riding motorcycles, the ailments of everyday travel put us under a lot of pressure. The fact that everyone else says it's part of the job doesn't make it any better for us.

And since we have also been thinking about Africa itself in recent days, about the recurring patterns of behavior, the begging, the obvious poverty, the lack of prospects, the lack of change – the question creeps in as to what we expect for the next few weeks and where our main interests actually lie.
