Day 122: Irente View Cliff Lodge & Campsite – Emayani Beach Lodge/Kasa Diving Campsite

We're on the Indian Ocean. Wow!

At the Emayani Beach Lodge and Kasa Diving Campsite, we're parking with Becky on the sand between trees and palm trees, gazing out at the sea. Wonderful. It's warm (not too hot) and windy (almost too much), and the crabs are running around on the beach.

That was almost unexpected after the cloudy and rainy morning in the Usambara Mountains. And it feels incredibly good after all the rather cold days and nights.

But we're noticing the change in altitude and climate, and perhaps also a little from yesterday's hike, and we're a bit tired.

Besides, we've already driven another six hours. And we're lucky: the ferry in Pangani has been operating again for two days, and we arrive just in time for the next departure.

Along the way, we see more tropical vegetation: cornfields, sugar cane, mountains of oranges, and sisal. What we've thought of as strange pineapple plants for the past few days is actually the sisal agave. And we read that Tanzania is one of the world's largest producers.

We've ordered pizza for tonight and will definitely stay here tomorrow as well.
