Day 181: Eland Game Reserve / Oribi Gorge
5:30 Wake up, have breakfast, and pack up. At 7:45 we're at the door of 4x4 South Coast. We both slept badly.
Together with a guy from the company, Wolle sets about repairing the roof rack and the mounting for the sandboards and the spare tire. Brigitte and a second employee are the handymen.
The bolts on the spare tire show the forces that were exerted. We're lucky that nothing worse happened. And we're so angry that no one told us when it happened.
The boss apparently fired the employee and he seems to want to pay for the damage. But we won't believe that until a German repair bill is paid. Nobody here understands what such damage actually means.
After a good three hours, everything is ready enough for us to get to Cape Town. The workshop in Ballito will cover the costs of this one.
By the afternoon, we're both completely exhausted. The short, bad night, the restlessness, working in the sun,...
Nevertheless, we take a quick stroll around the grounds and are delighted to spot three giraffes. The facility is truly amazing, even if it feels a bit like "Wildpark Schwarze Berge" to us. And it probably does for the locals, too.
