Day 93: Villa Katwe (Masaka)
Today, Wolle needs to work on the screws on the cabin and the mounting bracket again: We now check and tighten them if necessary every two weeks. One screw had come a little loose, so it was worth it. And it's good to get it over with first thing in the morning, because it starts to rain shortly after.
Over 30 degrees and sticky, then a fresh wind at 18 degrees, rain, followed by humidity, fresh and windy again – the constant change in weather over the last few days is a bit exhausting. And perhaps that also explains our constant tiredness.
A short afternoon stroll into town is all we do today.
A group of young Irish people also live here, who are equipping a playground using recycled materials – a volunteer project lasting several weeks.
And at the ATM, we meet an elderly German couple who have volunteered at an orphanage for five weeks. Since the end of US aid, these are the small aid projects that are still working. Who knows what will become of the playground in the long run, and what will become of the solar lights for the orphanage. Anyone who knows us or has been following our reports for a while knows that we've lost faith in the sustainability of these projects.
And what else? We enjoy the pampering program with breakfast, lunch, and dinner – we seem to need it right now.
