Day 103: Glenn-Reenen Campsite – Mokala-National-Park, Motswedi-Campsite
We get up just after 5 a.m., fairly well rested, and make breakfast. We have 577 km ahead of us today.
We set off at around 7 a.m. We want to drive for a while with the AdBlue pump connected to see if it still works. After about 50 km we get the first error message that we should contact the Toyota dealer, and after about 40 more kilometers we get the message that the vehicle can no longer be started after 700 km.
We contact the specialists who sold us the long-distance travel software. They try to read the data using the dongle, but this initially fails because the connection is too bad over land. A second attempt in Bloemfontein in the parking lot in front of the mall that we were in a few weeks ago works and the error message can be deleted remotely.
Hopefully we have solved the problem for now. The AdBlue pump will have to wait until we are back in Germany.
We then drive to the Mokala National Park with a stopover in Kimberley. In Kimberley we visit the Woolworth Food Market, which far outshines the other supermarkets we have visited so far in terms of the quality and selection of food.
The last 30 kilometers into the park are on gravel roads. The park is easy to navigate but quite nice. Apart from a couple in the chalets, we seem to be the only visitors. There is no one else at the Motswedi campsite with 6 pitches and the small waterhole belongs only to us and the few animals that stop by.
It is so wonderfully quiet here. But also very hot. When we arrived at 5 p.m. it was still around 40 degrees and it is hardly expected to go below 30 degrees at night either. Leo puts up his tent so that he can sleep in it with a bit more air, and I will have the roof tent to myself.
