Day 105: Mokala-National-Park – Kambiki Farm Camping

Yesterday evening, the comings and goings at the waterhole didn't lessen, but apart from a few jackals, no other "new" visitors came, so we soon went to sleep in the car. It was even hotter in the shelter than it already was.

In the morning, the old acquaintances continued to show up at the waterhole. At 8 a.m. we set off to drop off the key at reception and then drive out of the park via the northern gate.

Our first destination today is Kimberley, where we visit the well-stocked Pic'n Pay and Woolworth Food supermarkets again and eat at Mugg&Bean again.

When we set off from Kimberley late at lunchtime, all we know is that we want to spend the night near the Orange River. Unfortunately, one of the campsites we chose turns out to be useless (the owner is in Cape Town and the employees aren't particularly happy), so we drive on and are lucky again: near Upington we find a brand new campsite that isn't really in operation yet. An employee is waiting for a lift after work and opens the gate for us and calls his boss, who is apparently quite surprised to have campers as guests without a booking. Her husband comes by a quarter of an hour later and gives us the keys to a shower and toilet. There is no one else on the campsite except us. There is a small mini pool with a nice view, which we sit in to cool off (it was over 40 degrees today too). A wonderful end to a long day.
