Day 10: CKGR (Passarge) – Sehithwa

What we can sleep! :-)

There was nothing going on at night and it wasn't quite as cold as the last few nights. At breakfast the birds whizzed around us and the mongoose showed up again.

The bumpy sand tracks are not nice to drive on, the satnav mount comes loose, the charging cables are falling out of the sockets, anything that rubs against something gets damaged. Well then...

We were rewarded with the sighting of an African wildcat – we'd never seen one before. Today we saw several giraffes, two jackals, oryxes with really small young one, springboks and ibexes. And last but not least, just before reaching the Tsau Gate, two magnificent specimens of elephants crossed our path. The waterholes (Passarge and Motopi) were only visited by a few ostriches.

Between Tsau Gate and the A3, the track is pretty sandy and we meet a Botswanan who was stuck in his G4S "company car" (an old Nissan). Four tries with shoveling and sandboards don't work, he gets stuck again immediately after starting off – we think that his 4x4 isn't working at all, because the two front tires were not pushing forward. Wolle then discovers that the tires have far too much pressure (3.2 bar!), he reduces the tire pressure and on the fifth attempt the guy manages it to get out. Phew.

We are now pretty late, racing along the A3 to Sehithwa to the Monlek Lodge (parking/camping/use of a bathroom 150 Pula pppn). Cooking something quickly. In urgent need of a shower. Writing diary and uploading tracks and pictures.
