Day 09: CKGR: Sun Pan – Passarge

After almost 10 hours in bed (!) we admire the first bright glimmer and sunrise before six. How great to be here and to start a day like this. The night was extremely quiet. The game camera only shows a lonely mouse (cliff elephant shrew?)

At breakfast there are all kinds of birds to see, one is extremely curious and even examines the license plate. We really need a good bird book...

We start the day relaxed. We only have 70 km to drive today. It is the day of the oryxes and springboks. Otherwise there is not much to see: two very fast badgers, many ground squirrels, a lot of ostriches, a mother warthog with two cubs, two impala, a jackal and two giraffes in the distance. Oh yes, and two martial eagles!

We reach Passarge Valley #2 at around 3 p.m. It's like a vacation! Tea, biscuits, writing in a diary, loading pictures from the camera, loading tracks. We are offline (let's see when we have a network again), but we can prepare everything in advance.

We are a little concerned that a) only two cells of the solar panel are apparently still charging; b) our telephoto lens is jerking when focusing (the image stabilizer?) and c) one of the drawers seems to be jammed. Somehow, none of it is designed for the demands of this type of travel.
